My Vocal Journey
My passion for singing started when I was very young, but it didn’t come naturally to me. In fact, after an audition in high school, the director pulled me aside to say, “Hallie, you’re a terrific dancer, but you can’t sing worth a lick.” How devastating!
But no wonder—I had never been taught even the very basics of how to sing. I assumed, as I think most people do, that singing is something that should come naturally. Thankfully, I decided not to let it get me down, and with the right teachers I was able to completely transform my voice.
I have since spent many years studying singing with experts in bel canto, opera, and musical theatre (since 2018, I have been blessed to study with a world-class opera star). I have put my training to good use in countless solo and ensemble performances in weddings, funerals, community theatre, churches, festivals, etc.
In spring 2025, I placed 2nd in my classical category at the Mid-Atlantic Region NATS competition and 1st in musical theatre at VA NATS. Judges’ comments included, “Beautiful voice,” “lovely, even tone,” “wonderful voice for [baroque music],” “beautiful youthful fresh sound,” and “excellent interpretation of text and embodiment of character!”

Performing Arts
For as long as I can remember, I have loved to perform. Before I got serious about singing, I spent years studying and performing ballet, ballroom, and many other forms of dance. I also participated in many productions as a performer, costumer, and set designer, and I minored in theatre in college.

Teaching
I opened my studio in 2024 and found that I love mentoring young music students! My specialty and passion is teaching beginner-intermediate students of all ages. I find that my own difficult journey with singing has helped me to be a better teacher. Learning to use my own instrument didn’t come naturally to me, and I don’t expect my students to master it without lots of guidance and practice, either.I am often complimented on my patient teaching style and proven techniques, and my students have successfully auditioned for college music programs, school and community productions, and district choir.
I feel strongly that children should be exposed to music early and regularly. On the flip side, it is never too late to start learning a new skill!
As homeschooling mother, I am passionate about education, and I have a flexible schedule to accommodate your needs.
